GoHighLevel and Zapier

You can connect GoHighLevel to Zapier two ways, and each fits a different job. Here is how to set up both, and how to decide when a native workflow is enough.

By the HireGHL team. Updated

Two ways to connect

The first is the LeadConnector app inside Zapier. HighLevel describes it as the official, white labeled HighLevel connection, so you will not find an app called HighLevel or GoHighLevel there.

The second is webhooks. A webhook sends data straight to a URL, with no Zapier app between the two tools. It covers cases the app does not.

Connect with the LeadConnector app

You do not need an API key. One trigger HighLevel gives as an example is Pipeline Stage Changed. To work with more than one sub-account, create another LeadConnector connection for each and choose which one a Zap uses. HighLevel also lists creating sub-accounts through Zapier as an Agency Pro plan feature.

  • Create a new Zap and pick LeadConnector as the trigger app.
  • Click Sign In under Account.
  • Enter your HighLevel email and password on the LeadConnector login screen.
  • Choose the sub-account you want to connect.

When to use webhooks

HighLevel points to webhooks for cases where its workflow automations cannot perform a task. Two patterns cover most of them.

  • Into HighLevel: add an Inbound Webhook trigger to a workflow and copy its URL. In Zapier, add a Webhooks by Zapier POST step that sends to that URL. Send a test, then map the data into a contact. HighLevel lists that mapping as a required step.
  • Out of HighLevel: create a Catch Hook URL in Webhooks by Zapier, paste it into a webhook action in your workflow, and trigger the workflow to confirm Zapier receives the data.

Do you need Zapier at all

Every Zap adds a place where an automation can fail, and a task count on your Zapier bill. If both sides of the job live inside HighLevel, a workflow does it with no Zap. If another tool has no HighLevel connection, a webhook may reach it directly.

Zapier earns its place when the other software has a Zapier app and no other route into HighLevel. Our webhook guide covers the direct route.

Check before you go live

  • Run a test record through the Zap and read what lands in the contact.
  • Confirm which sub-account connection each Zap uses.
  • Name each Zap after its sub-account, so you can tell them apart when one fails.
