GoHighLevel White Label Explained

HighLevel's white label settings let an agency show its own brand to clients. The setup is mostly domains and DNS, and one wrong record can take a website offline. Here is what each piece does.

What white label means in HighLevel

In HighLevel, white label means your agency shows its own brand to clients where HighLevel would otherwise show its own. The settings live in Agency View, under Company Settings, in the White Label section. There you add your logo, your login domain, and your terms and conditions.

Agencies also use the phrase for a different arrangement: outsourcing the build work to a team that works under the agency's brand. That is our white label support service. It works with or without the platform branding described here, and the two often go together.

The six domain types

Most white label work is domain setup. HighLevel's help center separates six domain types, and each has its own purpose and its own DNS records.

  • Whitelabel domain: the agency-branded login URL for the HighLevel app. It uses a CNAME record.
  • API or branded domain: the domain on system-generated links for forms, surveys, and calendars. It uses a CNAME record and can be set at the agency level or per sub-account.
  • Email sending domain: authenticates the domain that sends email through LC Email. HighLevel generates the TXT, MX, and DMARC records for you.
  • Sites domain: the public URLs for websites, funnels, stores, and blogs. It uses generated A and CNAME records.
  • Client portal domain: the branded URL for affiliates, memberships, and community.
  • WordPress domain: the public URL for a WordPress site hosted through HighLevel. It has its own records, separate from Sites domains.

How to set up the login domain

HighLevel describes four steps for the whitelabel domain:

  • Create a CNAME record in your DNS.
  • Add the domain in your agency account under Company Settings.
  • Upload your agency logo.
  • Update your agency terms and conditions.

Where branded setups break

  • Using a root domain for the branded link domain. HighLevel warns that this points your domain away from your website. Use a subdomain, which HighLevel also recommends for the login domain.
  • Reusing DNS records between domain types. HighLevel says the records for one domain type should not automatically be reused for another.
  • Copying email DNS records from another domain. Use the values HighLevel generates for the domain you are adding.
  • Treating branding as finished after the login page. Emails, form links, funnels, and the client portal each have their own domain setting.

What sits behind the plans

HighLevel lists a white label mobile app as a separate monthly add-on and lists SaaS Mode on the Agency Pro plan. Our pricing guide has the current figures and where we read them.

Common questions

Should I use my root domain for white label?

Use a subdomain. HighLevel recommends one for the whitelabel domain, and it warns that a root domain used as the branded link domain points your domain away from your website.

Can I reuse the same DNS records for every domain type?

No. HighLevel says the records for one domain type should not automatically be reused for another. Generate the values for each domain you add.

Is white label the same as outsourcing the build?

No. White label branding changes what your clients see in the platform. White label support means a team builds inside your accounts under your name. Many agencies use both.
